“The Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County awarded $5,000 from OceanFirst Foundation”
OCEAN TOWNSHIP- The Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County received a $5,000 grant from OceanFirst Foundation to help support the Society’s mission to provide pro bono civil legal services to the indigent and handicapped residents of Monmouth County.
The Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County was established in 1950 by Monmouth County Bar Association attorneys and community leaders to assist Monmouth County residents in addressing their civil legal and litigation issues. If deemed eligible pursuant to the Society’s income and financial guidelines, the matter is referred to an attorney selected specifically to handle the case in question. The Society provides attorneys for a wide range of civil legal needs such as bankruptcy, custody, divorce, child support, visitation, civil actions, tenancy matters, collections and contracts. The pro bono attorneys who are referred cases are members of the Monmouth Bar Association who generously donate their time and expertise. In 2020 the Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County interfaced with better than 1,900 Monmouth County residents.
This $5,000 grant was presented to Valerie Hemhauser, Esq., Executive Director of the Legal Aid Society by Bobby Cook, Vice President Commercial Lending OceanFirst Bank. OceanFirst Foundation empowers organizations to think bigger, solve more problems and make life better in the neighborhoods served by OceanFirst Bank. The receipt of this generous grant from OceanFirst Foundation will go towards the day-to-day operations so that the Society may continue to provide vital civil legal representation to this underserved Monmouth County population.
