“The Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County, celebrating 72 years of service, held its’
Annual Fundraising Event at Bar Anticipation, Lake Como”

OCEAN TOWNSHIP- The nonprofit Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County, Inc. celebrating 72 years of service to the community recently held its Annual Fundraiser at the iconic Bar Anticipation in Lake Como. Attendees enjoyed an evening of live music, gift basket auction, food and drinks at Bar A’s tropical oasis complete with palm trees, towering rocks and an authentic Grotto.

The proceeds from this event go to support the Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County, a non-profit organization established in 1950 by local Monmouth County lawyers and community leaders to provide pro bono legal services to low income and handicapped residents of Monmouth County. For the past 72 years the Legal Aid Society has been successful in their mission providing free legal services to those most in need for a wide range of civil matters including child support, child custody, divorce, foreclosure, bankruptcy and tenancy issues.

Legal Aid Society Honored by Young Lawyers of Monmouth County

The Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County would like to extend a very heartfelt THANK YOU to the Young Lawyer’s Committee of the Monmouth County Bar Association.

The Young Lawyer’s Committee chose the Legal Aid Society as their charity to receive proceeds of their Annual Volleyball Event held at The Headliner on September 9, 2022.

We can’t thank everyone enough who came out to support our cause, especially our very own Board of Trustee members who volunteered to play!

OCEAN TOWNSHIP- The not-for-profit Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County, Inc. celebrating 71 years of service to the community recently held its annual Wine Event fundraiser at the historic 4 JG’s Vineyards in Colts Neck. 

This important fundraising event, generously donated by John and Janet Giunco owners of 4JG’s Vineyards, showcased an array of their award winning wines set among the bucolic vineyards in Monmouth County.  

The proceeds from this annual event go to support the Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County, a non-profit organization established in 1950 by local Monmouth County lawyers and community leaders to provide pro bono legal services to indigent and handicapped residents of Monmouth County.  For the past 71 years the Legal Aid Society has successfully implemented their mission of providing free legal services to those most in need for a wide range of civil matters including child support, child custody, divorce, foreclosure, bankruptcy and tenancy issues.

Legal Aid Annual Dinner Celebrating 71 Years of Helping Monmouth County Residents

OCEAN TOWNSHIP- The Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County celebrated 71 years of community service at their annual dinner on June 11, 2021. 

This yearly event celebrates the work the Legal Aid Society has done throughout the year and acknowledges their board of trustees and volunteer pro bono attorneys who work so hard to make their mission a continuing success.  This year’s special guest was Thomas A. Arnone, Monmouth County Commissioner Director and local Monmouth County resident who was honored in appreciation of his dedicated continuing support of the organization.

The mission of the Legal Aid Society is to act as a conduit between eligible low income residents of Monmouth County and Monmouth County attorneys willing to accept the assignment for free.The Society was established in 1950 by Monmouth County attorneys, together with community leaders, to provide pro bono services to qualified indigent and handicapped residents of Monmouth County.  The clients whom the Society refers to pro bono attorneys represent a wide range of civil legal needs including divorce, bankruptcy, tenancy and eviction issues. 

Over the past 71 years, thousands of Monmouth County residents have had quality legal representation that they otherwise could not have afforded, due to the Legal Aid Society and its’ many volunteer attorneys.  In 2020 the Society interfaced with better than 1,800 Monmouth County residents!

Ocean First Foundation Donates to Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County

“The Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County awarded $5,000 from OceanFirst Foundation”

OCEAN TOWNSHIP- The Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County received a $5,000 grant from OceanFirst Foundation to help support the Society’s mission to provide pro bono civil legal services to the indigent and handicapped residents of Monmouth County.

The Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County was established in 1950 by Monmouth County Bar Association attorneys and community leaders to assist Monmouth County residents in addressing their civil legal and litigation issues. If deemed eligible pursuant to the Society’s income and financial guidelines, the matter is referred to an attorney selected specifically to handle the case in question.  The Society provides attorneys for a wide range of civil legal needs such as bankruptcy, custody, divorce, child support, visitation, civil actions, tenancy matters, collections and contracts.  The pro bono attorneys who are referred cases are members of the Monmouth Bar Association who generously donate their time and expertise.  In 2020 the Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County interfaced with better than 1,900 Monmouth County residents.     

This $5,000 grant was presented to Valerie Hemhauser, Esq., Executive Director of the Legal Aid Society by Bobby Cook, Vice President Commercial Lending OceanFirst Bank.  OceanFirst Foundation empowers organizations to think bigger, solve more problems and make life better in the neighborhoods served by OceanFirst Bank.  The receipt of this generous grant from OceanFirst Foundation will go towards the day-to-day operations so that the Society may continue to provide vital civil legal representation to this underserved Monmouth County population.
