Investor’s Bank Donation

The Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County awarded $5,000 from Investors Foundation

OCEAN TOWNSHIP- The Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County received a $5,000 grant from Investors Foundation to support the Society’s mission to act as a conduit between the indigent residents of Monmouth County and Pro Bono attorneys willing to accept the assignment.

This $5,000 grant was presented to Mark T. Apostolou, Jr., Esq., President of the Legal Aid Society and Valerie Hemhauser, Esq., Executive Director of the Legal Aid Society, by John W. Celmer, Investors Bank Vice President Professional Services and by Peter Leyman, Investors Bank Vice President Professional Services.

The clients, both indigent and handicapped, are at the bottom rung of the economic ladder.  They come to the Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County to redress their problems in a court of competent jurisdiction and, if deemed eligible pursuant to the Society’s guidelines, their case is referred to a Monmouth County attorney selected specifically to handle the case in question.  In 2017, the Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County interfaced with better than 1,600 Monmouth County residents!   It is projected that the need for our services will upwardly increase even more so for the year ending 2018.

The receipt of this generous $5,000 grant from Investors Foundation cannot be understated.  This funding is needed so that the Society may provide vital representation to the indigent residents of Monmouth County.

The Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County was established in 1952 by local Monmouth County attorneys together with community leaders to provide pro bono legal services to the indigent and handicapped residents of Monmouth County. The Society’s office is located at 2407 Route 66, Ocean, New Jersey.

The need and importance of the Legal Aid Society cannot be understated.  The clients whom we refer to pro bono attorneys are either indigent and or handicapped and are at the bottom rung of the economic ladder and would otherwise be without legal representation.  They represent a wide range of civil legal needs including Bankruptcy, Divorce, Child Custody, Child Support and Visitation, Family Law enforcement and modification, Domestic Violence Restraining Orders and Guardianship, and would otherwise be without legal representation.

The success of the Society strongly depends on the generosity of our volunteer attorneys and donations and outside funding from our community. Supporting the Society is as easy as shopping on Amazon Smile.  Of course, any donation, large or small, would also be greatly appreciated and, because the Society is a 501(c)(3) organization, your donation is tax deductible.

The Legal Aid Society was established in 1952 by Monmouth County attorneys, together with community leaders, to provide pro bono legal services to qualified indigent residents of Monmouth County.  The Society is a not for profit organization.  The need and importance of the Legal Aid Society cannot be understated.  The clients who are referred to pro bono attorneys are at the bottom rung of the economic ladder, represent a wide range of civil legal needs and, would otherwise be without legal representation.  In the past 65 years the Society has been very successful in serving our mission and as a result of our efforts, we have helped improve the lives of many in our community.  Our success strongly depends on the generosity of our volunteer attorneys as well as donations and outside funding from our community.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

Another member of our community in need is aided by a local lawyer…

In an another example of the excellent work done by the attorneys who volunteer their time to provide free representation when a client is referred by the Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County, we are grateful to receive this thank you note from Tina Gleason after the amazing legal representation she received from Valerie Hemhauser, Esq., of Red Bank, NJ.

We are of course thrilled to have Valerie as our new Executive Director, who now screens people in need like Ms. Gleason to determine if they are eligible financially to receive the assistance of Monmouth County Lawyers on a volunteer basis.

This note reflects of one of the situations the Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County is often requested to assist people with.  Our help is not limited to family law matters, and the Legal Aid Society will review your case to determine if you would potentially qualify for a referral through our organization.

Thank You 2-6-17
